STONE made sure to keep all historic elements intact upon performing repairs at the building that were heavily required. Post repairs at the cornice, STONE then coated the cornice to match and retain existing historic conditions.
Upon repairing the cornice, STONE understood that the cornice required rehabilitation past just normal repairs. Working close with Landmarks Preservation Commission, STONE repaired the top end of the cornice and recoated the cornice with protective paint that matched historical context and brough teh building back its shine.
Apart from the cornice, STONE also focused their efforts on the decorative stone facade, repairing and patching as required to achieve a new decorative stone look as if it was installed today.
STONE also paid special attention to the masonry as well as the masonry pointing at the facade of the building. STONE made sure to provide several samples of both masonry type, and pointing material colorways to Landmarks Preservation Commission to ensure we replicated historical conditions.
The roof of the building also required attention and repairs. STONE made sure to replace the existing cracked and deteriorated coping stones with brand new camelbacks to match in kind and keep the decorative aesthethic from public thoroughfare.
Even before the replacement of coping stone has to come the building parapet. STONE replaced the existing parapet with new masonry to match existing in kind as well as making sure the level of parapet is per building code.
Upon updating the exterior of the building, STONE also paid special attention to the interior courtyard. STONE brightened up the courtyard with a coat of white at the interior to ensure natural light penetrates and refracts through the entire interior courtyard.
Atop the newly built parapet, STONE installed new, black coping covers to match existing condition of the perimeter of the roof in kind. The installation also gave the coping cover a mint color tone and sealant to protect the top end of the building and be visible to pedestrians below of its historic appeal.
